この語、ずっと和製英語だと思ってきた。色々サーチしても日本語で出るのはそんなのが多い。こんなの、
さっそくこの言葉と、今回のテーマ “level up” を使った例文を見てみましょう。
日本語の「レベルアップ」をそのまま英語にした例文 (1) 新年の抱負は、英語をレベルアップすることです。
My new year’s resolution is to level up my English skills.
(2) ゴルフを上達したい。
I want to level up my golf.
日本語で「レベルアップ」は名詞としても動詞としても使われるので、それをそのまま英語に置き換えるとこのような文章になるのですが、実は英語としては正しくない使い方です。
はっきり「正しくない使い方」と書いてある。知らないと恥らしいw。でもこれ、この用法、動詞として使うんだよね。例えば今日IKEAで見たやつ。

ちゃんとある。ただ、1の使い方は「(周りと同じ様になるように)レベルアップする」ということらしい。でもIKEAの例はそうでもないと思うけど。2の意味は完全にゲーム用語、レベルが1つアップするの意。こっちは日本語から逆輸入らしい。
