来年のTour of Californiaのプロローグで行われるタイムトライアル、パロアルトがサンフランシスコ、サクラメント相手に争奪戦を行おうとしているようです。
In a colleagues' memo the council will discuss tonight, Mayor Yoriko Kishimoto and council members Bern Beecham and John Barton have proposed that the city sign a letter of intent with Stanford to co-host the race's "prologue," a three-hour timed trial, over the 2008 President's Day weekend.
パロアルトの日本人市長、ヨリコ・キシモトさんが自ら招致しようとしている模様。パロアルトでTour of Californiaが開幕したら、うちから近いんでうれしいですが、州都であるサクラメント、いうまでもなく有名なサンフランシスコと対決するのはちょっと難しいかな。強いてあげればシリコンバレー発祥の地ぐらいかなぁ。
いずれにしろパロアルト市長が自転車好きなのはまちがいない模様。
