ラストベルト（英:Rust Belt）とはアメリカ合衆国の中西部地域と大西洋岸中部地域の一部に渡る脱工業化が進んでいる領域を表現する呼称である。ラスト（rust）は金属のさびのことで、使われなくなった工場や機械を表現している。
今回の大統領選、決定的になったのがこれらの地域の得票率。結局トランプがこのあたりの白人労働者層の票を拾った、というのが一般的見解だけれど、それを読んで思い出すのがビリー・ジョエルのこの曲。
