CAMPBELL -- A 56-year-old bicyclist who was struck and killed by a car on Campbell Avenue Thursday evening has been identified as Charles Shaffer, 56, of Cupertino.

Shaffer was on the four-lane road near La Pradera Drive in front of the Kirkwood Plaza Shopping Center when he was hit by a Buick sedan traveling east around 6:30 p.m., said Campbell police Capt. Charlie Adams.
