仕事柄世界の言語とかには詳しい方だけれど、アメリカの、しかもサンフランシスコから数時間の所に絶滅しつつある言語があることを知る。
場所はその名も"Boonville"。boonies（＝田舎者）のville（＝街）を連想させる地名。そこに"Boontling"という言語があるらしい。現在は３人しか話者が残って居ないそうだけれど、昔は学校でも教えていた歴史が。
