朝のコアトレ、最近はKQEDばかり聞いている。で、ここ2週間は例によって"pledge drive"。その中で紹介されていたのが2つの懸賞。そのうちの一つはタウンバイク。

KQEDのドネーションとは関係なく、懸賞としてこのPUBLIC Bikesの自転車が2台あたる、というものなのだけれど、その自転車紹介の中での説明でこの表現を使っていた。
この"for the rest of us"、まあよく使う言い回しなんだけれど、よくよく考えると論理的じゃない。意味的には上にある通り"for us (everyday rider)"のはずだけど、"the rest of"が入ったら意味が通らなくなる。
英語って難しい。
