いや泥々じゃなくて道路泥棒ｗ。
Santa Cruz Mountainsによくある、"Private Property"で立ち入り禁止！という標識、実は偽物があるらしい、という記事。
There are a number of legitimately private roads in the area, but Summit isn’t one of them. It has been open to the public since its construction as a fire road in the 1930s, but in the mid-1990s, a few residents decided they wanted it all to themselves and put up the signs along with locked metal gates.
特にこの記事で挙げられてるのが、Summit Road。
この未舗装路区間、本来公共の道路のはずなのにこの土地の所有者が勝手にゲートをこしらえて通れなくしていたらしい。数年前に林業の会社が訴えを起こしてゲートを取っ払えたけど、"Private Road"標識はそのまま。しかしとんでもない話だな。この区間、Loma Prietaとか、
南端にはMt.Madonnaの巨大レッドウッド（根本の自転車に注目）：
とかあって面白いんだけどね。
その他にも例のWoodsideのBear Gulchが。こっちは公道だったのを私道として地元に認めさせた経緯があるらしい。しかも公共道路時代に舗装までさせといて…。ニール・ヤングめ！
