One of the most sought-after local apricots, the Royal Blenheim, was introduced to California in the 1880s, and by the 1920s the variety dominated a thriving dried apricot industry, blanketing the Santa Clara Valley. Most of the original Blenheim orchards have been paved over, but a few farmers, such as Bill Crepps of Everything Under the Sun, still grow the intensely flavorful variety, available in limited supply in June.
昔果樹園だった頃このあたりで育てられていたBlenheimというアプリコット。今は希少品種なんだそう、なんでこれ食べてみたいとい言うことでCampbellへ。しかし空振りorz。どこの出店にもおいてなかった。
これだけで帰るのはあれなんで、前回この記事で知ったCoke Farmが出店しているメンロパークのファーマーズマーケットへはしご。そしたら、
あった！K & J Orchardsえらい。さすがFrench Laundry始め錚々たるレストランが仕入れてるだけある。でもCampbellのK & Jには置いてなかったなぁw。
さらにつらつら歩いてたら、
Swanton Berry Farm入ってた。 しかも偶然奥がこのCraftsman & Wolvesのインスタグラムを見て、
食べてみたかったTayberryが置いてある。これは買うしか無いっしょ、値段が苺の倍ぐらいするけどｗ。前に並んでたお姉さんが5ドル札出して「9ドルです」と言われて鳩が豆鉄砲の顔になってた。
We are sending limited quantities to our all of our farmers markets tomorrow - they rarely make it to the market so get them while the gettin's good.
これが来たわけですね。
んで、本来ここに来る理由だったCoke Farmにももちろん寄る。
デュラムセモリナ購入。さらにその後ファーマーズマーケットを後にして、
Colette Mademoiselleで奥用ケーキを買って完璧。
この時期のファーマーズマーケットは毎週発見があって楽しい、って毎年書いてるかも。
