今ではすっかり廃れてしまったインターネットのプロトコルにネットニュースというのがある。fjが盛んだった頃は自分も色々遊んだけれど、現在唯一購読*1しているのがusenetのba.bicycles。ここは今でもそれなりに流通があり、ベイエリアの自転車情報を比較的S/N比が低く入手できる。そこに今日流れていたのが「Carradiceのサドルバッグはどこで買える？」というもの。
前置きが長くなったけれど、その返事にあったのがバークレーにあるjitensha studioという自転車屋さん。ドメイン名なんとjitensha.com。Aboutには、
Jitensha Studio is a little different from other shops. We are determined to carry bicycles and accessories that we feel are the best for the price. We don’t always follow the fads. We have some very elegant and expensive bicycles, but we aren’t against inexpensive things if they are well designed and well made. We like value, and we try hard to steer each customer to the best things in his or her price range. One of the things that makes bicycling a unique sport is aesthetics.
