Wikipediaで調べたらこの"Far Away Eyes"、「Bakersfieldスタイルのカントリーミュージックの特徴を取り入れた」とある。さらにその"Bakersfield-style Country Music"という項には、

The Bakersfield sound was a genre of country music developed in the mid- to late 1950s in and around Bakersfield, California. Bakersfield country was a reaction against the slickly-produced, string orchestra-laden Nashville Sound, which was becoming popular in the late 1950s.

へぇ〜、知らなかった。Bakersfield、50年代はカントリーミュージックの中心地だったのか。うちからLas Vegasに行く途中でこの街をしばしば通るんだけれど、何十年も時間が止まったような街で奥のアンティーク探し位の認識しか今までなかった。今度通ったらもうちょっと注意を払ってみるか。
